Sergeant Hady would have been very involved in the capture of Jummoo, 1st December 1877. The Jowaki Afridis, who occupied the territory between Peshawar and the Kohat Pass, made continuous attacks on their neighbours. Two forces under the command of Brigadier Generals Keyes and Ross were sent to suppress these incursions. Keyes, with the main body attached and captured Jummoo, the principal Jowaki stronghold, 1st December 1877.
The 13 / 9th Royal Artillery were with Brig Gen Keyes.
Confirmed on the Medal Roll. Also served as 7709. Also entitled to Afghanistan Medal with Ali Musjid Clasp. From Waterford, Ireland. Papers available on-line.
He served with E Battery, 3rd Brigade when he qualified for the Afghan Medal with Ali Musjid Clasp.
