Long Service and Good Conduct Medal named to 237572 L. G. JUPE. P. O. H. M. S. EXCELLENT. Leonard George Jupe was born 11th December 1889 in Winchester, Hampshire. He was stable boy when he joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class in 1907,

signing up for 12 years. The 1911 census shows him serving aboard HMS Prince of Wales. His Great War service shows him serving at HMS Excellent and on HMS Birmingham. He served until May 1926. He then re-entered service 25th September 1933 under a new number P / JX 140105 as Chief Petty Officer. He died 19th January 1945 aged 55 years whilst serving as C.P.O. H.M.S. Excellent.

His Commonwealth War Graves Commission entry states that he was the son of Charles and Emma Jupe and husband of Marion Jupe of Southsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire.

He is Remembered with Honour – Haslar Royal Naval Cemetery.
